Steven Alan Fall Lookbook

Do you hear that muffled whine? That is the sound of me weeping, as I give up on all things related to style and step out in t-shirts I've ruined with scissors, for the rest of my life. A little less literal, but you get the point. Here, my friends, is the beauty that is Steven Alan for the Autumn season. (The best season, obviously.)

The above photos feature a few of my favorite outfits in the current lookbook. Not to mention the perfect single items not shown here (shoes and button-downs *drool*). If I could promise my entire life's wardrobe devotion to one place, I would probably choose Steven Alan. At least in this temporary moment of weakness. Too bad their items are about 10x more than I may be able to afford. Oh, how trivial the budget!

At least I can still dream out loud via text via blogging via the internet.

Please forgive my melodrama.

It Happened One Night (1934)

  One of my very favorite movies!  Starring Claudette Colbert and Clark Gable-- I couldn't think of a better pair to play their parts.  'It Happened One Night' is about an heiress named Ellie (Claudette Colbert) who runs away from her overbearing father and his attempts at convincing her to annul her recent marriage to King Westley. When she can take no more of his griping, she jumps the boat she was forced onto and attempts to take a bus to New York, back to her husband.  Along the way, she runs into Peter Warne (Clark Gable), an egocentric ex-news reporter, who recognizes her immediately. Aware that her father is looking for her, he gives her two choices-- as a man stole her money earlier, he agrees to help her get to Westley if he can write an exclusive on her, or he'll give her up to her father.  She agrees to the first choice and the movie follows them through their adventures to arrive in New York... (did i make this sound exciting?!?!  well, if i didn't, you should watch it anyway!!)

The Butterfly Collector

This is my most recent painting, entitled 'The Butterfly Collector'.  I'm pretty sure that her luna moth dress, if real, would be the most beautiful dress in existence.

I'm going to open a print shop on Etsy soon, including my paintings and photographs.  I'll post a link on the blog once it's complete.  Very excited about it! :3

'Freckled' Magazine Feature

We were both featured in a friends magazine recently!  'Freckled' is, to put it in their words, all about: diversity, creativity, innovation and beauty.  I've looked through the entire issue and think it is absolutely beautiful-- full of stylish people, dreamy photographs, and stunning writing and artwork!  Click here to read 'Freckled'.

Teacup Village

Hey all!

Amanda and I just had the wisdom teeth dug out of our skulls, yesterday, so I'm all kinds of hideous and swollen. In other words, I refuse to step outside of this house! (As if I had the choice.) So I thought I would take this time to introduce you to a wonderful etsy shop [read on] that I think you should really enjoy!

But first, the owner:

This is my beautiful best friend, Chrissey Hanson. She took us around Nashville to do fun things, a few days ago, for our Nineteenth birthday. (This is when I took these photos!)

At the grounds behind the historic Belle Meade Plantation. (You can't really tell, but Amanda's wearing a great 70's floral midi skirt, she found at goodwill. We'll have to shoot some more with it later. So awesome!)

Chrissey is about to move to England. So any purchases you make at her shop will go towards helping her out! Which means you have to go look at it! (Please.)
